GEM 144 "SAPPHIRE"

New 2004 (see launching day story on Gem website).

Light, fast boat in excellent condition except for a few wharf scuff marks (always kept in carport). Blue hull, white decks.

Sailed mainly in non-spinnaker twilights and night races at Botany Bay Yacht Club where it acquits itself well (the Gem is the smallest boat in the club).

Comes with two Dacron jibs, one Mylar genoa (used twice), main sail, spinnaker (used only a couple of times) and spinnaker sock. 5hp Tohatsu outboard with separate fuel tank for longer range. All safety equipment for Category 5 (night racing) including 27 meg radio, flares, spare nav lights, two fire extinguishers, Harken winches, etc. Single-line reefing set up. Below decks it is equipped with matching blue upholstery and a stove plus interior lighting and a host of extras.

Has a TackTick Race Master computer compass ($1000+) aboard so you’ll have no excuse for going the wrong way.

This is a great little boat and it breaks my heart to sell because of illness. This has meant limited action for Sapphire, nor have I had the chance to stay aboard.
